Age Verification Policy

This Policy describes how Bossa Companion (“Bossa Companion”, “we”, “our”, “us”) uses a reliable age verification mechanism, under Law No. 15,211/2025 (the Digital ECA), Decree No. 12,880/2026 and Law No. 8,069/1990 (the Statute of the Child and Adolescent).
1. Legal basis
Law No. 15,211/2025, Art. 9, §1: “Reliable age verification mechanisms shall be adopted on each user access to content, products or services prohibited to minors, with self-declaration prohibited.”
Decree No. 12,880/2026, Art. 16, §4: “Interaction with systems that allow dialogue, production or exchange of videos and images, in an artificial or automated manner, of sexually explicit content, of nudity with sexual connotation or purpose, or in an erotic context, is equivalent to pornographic content.”
Because the Platform allows erotic dialogue with AI Companions and the generation of sensual images, the law treats that interaction as pornographic content, which requires robust verification.
2. A two-layer gate
We apply the principle of proportionality (Art. 24 of the Decree). Access is split into layers:
Basic level — initial sign-up
Email, password and declared date of birth. This grants access only to neutral, non-erotic conversations with no image generation. It is the entry layer, so you can get to know the product without immediate friction.
Full level — age verification by a reliable mechanism
Required for any erotic dialogue, generation of sensual images or unlocking adult mode. Carried out by an independent specialist provider with native Brazilian Portuguese support. Verification involves:
- A selfie with liveness detection and automated age analysis;
- When the analysis is not conclusive, an additional age-proof step;
- A binary confirmation (approved / declined) sent to our system.
The law does not fix a single verification method. It requires the mechanism to be reliable and of a high degree of trustworthiness, prohibiting only self-declaration. The method above is the one currently in use; other reliable mechanisms (such as verifiable credentials) may be adopted in line with the technical parameters set by the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD).
3. What we store, and what we do not
In compliance with Art. 16, §3 of Decree No. 12,880/2026:
“Data processing arising from the collection of documents shall be limited to the age datum or to the confirmation of the age bracket. Storage, retention or any form of conservation of the image, of the copy of the document or of the information is prohibited, and it must be eliminated immediately and irreversibly.”
We do not store:
- Images of official documents;
- Selfies sent to the verification provider;
- Raw biometric data.
We do store:
- The verification result (approved or declined);
- An anonymous identifier for the verification transaction;
- The date and time of verification, for audit purposes.
4. Re-verification
The Law requires verification “on each access” to restricted content. That requirement is met through an authenticated session on the User's trusted device, with a periodic re-check in the event of:
- A session expired through prolonged inactivity;
- Reasonable suspicion of account sharing;
- Material changes to the account (change of email, password and so on).
5. Minors identified
If at any point we identify that an Account is operated by someone under 18, we will proceed with immediate suspension, deletion of the User Content and, where applicable, notification to the competent authorities. See also the Minors Policy.
6. Declines and appeals
If you were declined in error (unreadable image, analysis failure and so on), you may redo the verification or request a manual review through support@bossacompanion.com.
7. Frequently asked questions
Are my images kept?
No. The verification provider processes and discards the images immediately, and Bossa Companion never receives them.
Do I have to verify every time I sign in?
No. The result is tied to your authenticated Account, and re-verification happens in the specific situations described in item 4.
Can I use the service without verifying?
Yes, at the Basic level, with features limited to neutral conversations.
